Tenute del Cerro, including Colpetrone, has spent two decades improving already excellent vineyard land in Central Italy's three great "M" zones: Montalcino, Montepulciano and Montefalco. Saccr is Sangiovese with a little Cabernet Sauvignon and Sagrantino. Aromas of cassis and blue flowers along with a whiff of bell pepper lift out of the glass. Savory and smooth, the juicy palate delivers black cherry, licorice, ground pepper and crushed mint. Firm, refined tannins provide the framework.
