Since 1874, Domaine Chante Cigale, or “The Cicada’s Song”, has worked to honour the unique terroir of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The current owner, Alexandre Favier, has taken the Domaine to a new level, acquiring vineyards and identifying no fewer than 45 individual parcels across 40 hectares. A pretty classic assemblage of 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault, Chante Cigale's 2021 Chateauneuf du Pape offers up charming aromas of garrigue, leather and black cherries. Predominantly aged in concrete tanks (there's a bit of foudre and demi-muid) it's full-bodied, nicely rounded and balanced, with just a bit of firmness on the gently tannic finish.
